​Welcome to my online portfolio! The purpose of this portfolio is to share my experiences and philosophies of leadership and education with colleagues, and conference presentation selection committees.

About Me
​I have a very unique background in emergency services, healthcare, and adult education. I began my emergency services career in 1996 as a volunteer firefighter/EMT. Since then, I have 26 years experience in the field as a career firefighter/ EMS provider; 15 of those years include experience as a critical care  provider and flight paramedic. I have 15 years’ experience in higher education as an educator and instructional designer, creating and facilitating credit and continuing education courses in allied health and career tech programs. I am very experienced using learning management systems and software. I have vast experience in instructional design, successful program/course evaluations and learner assessment methods. I absolutely love training firefighters and EMS providers, and have had the privilege of training countless men and women who have successful careers.
I hold a BA in Social Sciences, and a Master's Degree in Adult Education and Training.
I have led two community college paramedic training programs through the entire EMS Education Program accreditation process , developing one from the ground up. In 2021, I became an accreditation site visitor for CoAEMSP.
I enjoy speaking at conferences, and teaching all varieties of EMS con-ed topics. Please see examples of my work and my CV on pages of this site.
​ I am currently full-time faculty and the Emergency Medical Services Education Program Director for Hawkeye Community College in Waterloo, Iowa, and a Critical Care Paramedic at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.  I am also a freelance content writer and contributor of EMS and the FP-C review for Pocket Prep. 
In April, 2022 I was nominated as Education Co-chair to the Iowa Emergency Medical Services Association (IEMSA) Board of Directors. I am honored to serve in this role for IEMSA!
I am excited to announce that in November 2023 I will presenting in the critical care paramedic and EMS educator tracks for IEMSA's Annual Conference!
