About Me
With a rich background spanning emergency services, healthcare, and adult education, I bring a unique blend of expertise and experience to the table. My journey began in 1996 as a volunteer firefighter/EMT, evolving over 28 years into a career firefighter/EMS provider, and EMS educator. Notably, I've spent 15 years specializing as a critical care provider and flight paramedic, contributing to my in-depth understanding of critical care.

Complementing my field experience, I've dedicated 16 years to higher education, excelling as an educator, program leader, and instructional designer. Within this realm, I've developed and delivered credit and continuing education courses in allied health and career tech programs, leveraging my proficiency in learning management systems and software.
My passion lies in training firefighters and EMS providers, a role I've embraced with enthusiasm throughout my career. I've had the privilege of shaping countless successful careers through my training initiatives, fostering a culture of excellence within the emergency services community.

Proudly a product of Iowa's community college system, I hold an Associate Degree in Emergency Medical Services from Southeastern Community College, alongside a BA in Social Sciences and a Master's Degree in Adult Education and Training. Notably, I've spearheaded the accreditation process for two community college paramedic training programs and served as an accreditation site visitor for CoAEMSP, reinforcing my commitment to advancing EMS education standards
My current roles include Full-time faculty and EMS Program Director for Hawkeye Community College in Waterloo, Iowa, a Critical Care Paramedic at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and a Critical Care Paramedic for CARE Ambulance in Iowa City, Iowa. I am also a freelance content writer and contributor of EMS and the FP-C exam prep/review for Pocket Prep.
